The Mysterious Horseman
An Adventure in Prairietown, 1836

When Andrew’s family moves from the farm to Prairietown, Indiana, Andrew hopes for some real excitement. But doing chores for Ma and working for Mrs. Zimmerman at The Golden Eagle Inn is about as exciting as things ever get. And then he overhears a traveler’s conversation while he is sweeping the porch at the Inn.

As he listens, Andrew’s hair stands up on his neck like the fur on a scared cat. Could the traveler be telling the truth? Is a mysterious headless rider really on his way to Prairietown?

This is an adventure story based on the daily lives of pioneers who lived in Indiana in the early nineteenth century. The photographs were taken at Connor Prairie, a living history museum in Fishers, Indiana.
